"I cannot be more grateful for the work I've been doing with Dr. Skye."
Some worry and apprehension is perfectly normal when you’re faced with a stressful or risky situation. But anxiety is a form of extreme worry and can signal a disorder if it regularly interferes with your daily life. Chronic anxiety can also contribute to systemic disease, including high blood pressure and heart disease.
When anxiety starts to dictate your life choices or limit your participation in social functions and seems disproportionate to the issue at hand, you may benefit from treatment. Also consider the severity of your anxiety — if you often have full-blown panic attacks in which your heart races, you become nauseous and dizzy with sweating and trembling, seek help from Dr. Skye. She can help you determine if you’re suffering from normal levels of anxiety and uncertainty, or if you need some intervention to feel more at ease.
Dr. Skye will conduct a stress evaluation by acquiring a personal history. This will help her evaluate whether you’re in adrenal overdrive, or if you have a genetic predisposition to anxiety disorders.
She also does biofeedback assessment, which involves using sensors and computers, to evaluate your physiological reactions to mental, physical, and emotional stressors. She’ll measure your heart rate, breathing rate, skin temperature, and blood pressure. She may also have you undergo neurotransmitter testing, which is a set of labs that evaluate the levels of certain chemicals in your brain. If your neurotransmitters are out of balance, there may be miscommunication between your brain and your body that causes anxiety. Dr. Skye can offer therapies to get you back on the path to mind-body wellness.
Dr. Skye can help you learn techniques — including breathing, guided visualization, and meditation — to ease your anxiety symptoms. She may also offer hormone-balancing therapies and natural supplements to reduce anxiety.
If food allergy testing reveals that specific additives or foods are responsible for some of your issues, Dr. Skye may recommend dietary changes to remove the offending foods or substances. She may administer herbal medicine or teach you stress management techniques.
Cranial sacral therapy is another treatment that may be helpful in resolving your symptoms. This gentle massage technique targets the head, spinal column, and sacrum to release compression which may be aggravating your pain and stress.
