"I cannot be more grateful for the work I've been doing with Dr. Skye."
Feeling tired from a poor night or two of sleep or an unusually early wake-up call is normal. But, when that fatigue persists day after day, week after week and begins to interfere with your ability to think, play, and work, it’s an issue that requires attention. With chronic fatigue, you may find the lack of energy makes you moody and irritable, interferes with concentration and work, and causes you to avoid social functions.
Any number of systemic problems lead to debilitating fatigue. You may be suffering from insomnia or a thyroid disorder. Diabetes, poor nutrient absorption, anemia, and some blood disorders may also be to blame. Chronic conditions, such as fibromyalgia, can cause overwhelming fatigue, too.
Dr. Skye will ask about your health history and other symptoms that accompany your fatigue, such as muscle or joint pain. She may look for a signs of a sleep disorder and talk about your stress levels at home and at work. Which tests she performs depend on a number of factors, including the other symptoms that accompany your fatigue.
She may perform biofeedback testing, which involves measuring your physical responses to mental and physical stress. The test results help Dr. Skye determine which mind-body medicine techniques are best for managing your stress responses to help ease your fatigue.
Food allergies, food intolerance, and possible hormone imbalances will also be explored. She’ll also look at your gastrointestinal health and address possible nutritional imbalances using clinical nutrition tests.
If appropriate, Dr. Skye will evaluate whether you’re suffering from adrenal fatigue. The adrenals are two glands right above your kidneys that help your body deal with stress. When you’re overstressed physically, emotionally, and mentally, these glands can’t keep up.
No matter what your symptoms are and how long you’ve been feeling exhausted, Dr. Skye will perform diagnostic tests to identify the cause of your fatigue and look for a resolution.
The treatment for your fatigue truly depends on its core source. Nutritional changes, better sleep habits, meditation, stress management techniques, herbal medicine, and other natural supplementation may help. But Dr. Skye doesn’t just want to treat the symptoms, she wants to address the root cause of your fatigue so you feel better for the long term.
